When I first saw these witty and pretty birds for the first time it made me a bit giddy inside with happiness. My favourite for the wit-factor is the “Doshite?” (“Why?”) Daddies. Because it captures Daddies perfectly (almost more perfect than Bill Cosby does!). A good gift for a new Dad, perhaps?
They are designed by Josh Mckibillo, an illustrator who currently can be found (or maybe not!) hiding out in Japan. He went to college as a painter, came out doing sculpture. Went to school again, came out hanging drywall. From there, he somehow went from drawing temporary tattoos for a novelty company to 8 years of art directing gigs at various magazines. Luckily, we have him back as an illustrator!
You can find Josh’s ready-printed birds at his Etsy store – all you need to do is cut, fold, glue and play! For the free download-able versions, you must check out Nani Bird’s website! (where lots of other artist’s have joined the obsession!). The perfect little and modern craft project for this weekend!
What’s your favourite?
